   if you need a lower price i’d stick with something like the sony a55 or t2i. you can use a lens within your budget with it. i would not go cheap with an actual camcorder the poor glass quality will make the hd look muddy and dull. hd alone is not enough.

   I purchased a sony Webbie HD and It has been great. I do agree with the answer above though, If you are looking for superior quality it doesn’t just come down to it being hd.

   You need to decide which is more important to you: HD video and acceptable resolution of the image stills or full HD and high resolution stills. The Kodak Zi8 for example is the cheapest. It records HD video (720p) and 5.3MP still images. Whereas the Canon EOS 7D for example records full HD video (1080) and 18 mega-pixels still images.
